Lin Mu hugged Milky, at sat beside the dirt hole that was originally his house in a daze.
Even if Yan Xuanjing had seen a lot of things, for a moment, he couldn’t react.
“What’s going on……” Lin Mu muttered as he stood up.
After his initial shock, he had calmed down and thought through it, and felt that it definitely wasn’t a big problem.
Just now, when he had looked down from above, there was nothing wrong with the surrounding houses, and it only was his place that had a large hole, so it probably wasn’t something that invaded.
Otherwise, this entire area would have been destroyed.
After all, there were great monsters staying in his yard that could cause the entire Central Plains to shake with a single step. No matter what, they couldn’t have let something happen to a little yard.
— But Lin Mu was a little worried about the father he had planted in the yard.
His father was still in his recovery period; would this sudden accident affect his recovery?
Lin Mu sighed, went in a circle around the ruins of his yard, and usually, he didn’t feel that his yard was that big, but after this, it felt extraordinarily large.
Yan Xuanjing noticed Lin Mu’s movement, gradually returned to his senses and said, “it should probably be Di Wu and the rest of who made it.”
After all, they were very clear about how much Lin Mu valued this little yard.
What’s more, Di Xiu was there, how would he have let this little yard get destroyed?
“They probably had moved it to another place.”
Yan Xuanjing said, and covered this huge pit with an illusion that could trick the eyes of ordinary people.
Lin Mu also thought that this probably was the case, and circled around the pit.
This pit was still fresh, the soil was still soft and moist, and the smell of dirt was still present. There were also some tiny roots that could be seen poking out of the soil.
He walked around, and found some familiar ashes near the pit.
It was the ashes left behind by the Morning Dusk after it had burned, and it looked like there was quite a bit.
The ashes were spread along the path, as if it was chasing something while burning all the time to another area.
Some of the ashes had fallen into the ground and sprouted, growing out little budding greens that gradually hid in between the weeds by the road, becoming hard to distinguish.
“Probably following that resentful energy.” Lin Mu said, looked down towards the ashes on the ground, and suddenly went ‘ay’.
Yan Xuanjing was thinking about whether to follow this aura, and bring Lin Mu along to follow him — after all, whether in the Central Plains or the Great Wilderness, it’s been a long time since there was an opponent that Yan Gui could freely fight against.
It was quite useful to watch great monsters fight.
Hearing Lin Mu’s voice, he looked up and said, “what’s the matter?”
“Ordinary people can’t see the Morning Dusk, right?” Lin Mu asked.
Yan Xuanjing nodded.
“My father and I can let the Morning Dusk grow around the Central Plains.” Lin Mu thought about the convenience his bloodline brought, and said, “if we can get more ashes from the netherworld, I don’t think it’ll be a problem to let the Central Plains become full of Morning Dusk.”
“Even in the Great Wilderness.”
Lin Mu said.
If he could really plant the Morning Dusk all over the Central Plains and the Great Wilderness, wouldn’t that be an awesome thing?
At that time, even Di Wu’s power wouldn’t be needed. As long as the Morning Dusk was planted, all the monsters who possessed great karma would turn into ashes.
— Although once they left from the power or the habitat of a Relaxed Emperor, the Morning Dusk was a one-time only product, as long as they worked hard, it would be enough.
“No.” Yan Xuanjing said.
After all, the Central Plains was mainly dominated by humans, amongst monsters who mostly relied on themselves to cultivate, it was impossible to prevent the accumulation of karma.
Even if it was him, Yan Xuanjing, this fox, once he removed his outer layer of auspiciousness, the first one to be burned by the Morning Dusk would be him.
Yan Xuanjing said, “if this was planted in a Great Wilderness, not many monsters could survive.”
“Then why wouldn’t it work in the Central Plains?” Lin Mu asked.
“There is a need for resentful energy, as it makes life difficult for those who commit evil.” Yan Xuanjing replied.
The Morning Dusk itself existed in the netherworld, burning those non-humans who had committed evil. As for the humans who had committed evil acts, that would be beyond their control.
One wouldn’t be able to escape the sins accumulated by committing evil acts in the netherworld, but the presence of resentful energy would make their lives less comfortable after committing that evil.
It was also possible for them to directly die once it got serious enough.
“But it can be used for trade.” Yan Xuanjing said.
This kind of item, in the Great Wilderness, would definitely be an item good for forcing out a confession, for revenge, or to retaliate against society. Furthermore, it was a one-time use only item that nobody could produce other than Di Xiu and Lin Mu, if they brought it over, they would definitely make a fortune.
And if Lin Mu went to the Great Wilderness, he definitely would be assigned to Qingqiu Country’s side. With such a thing in hand, it could make others fear and increase his own image. It basically was a great profit.
Yan Xuanjing’s inner abacus was clacking away.
And Lin Mu had no idea about this at all. Sitting cross-legged on the ground, he propped up his face and sighed as he looked at the handful of grey and black embers on the ground, “feels as if these little bits of flowers in our house couldn’t really help Di Wu and the rest.”
Yan Xuanjing had never expected that such a small area of Morning Dusk could have much effect.
But Lin Mu said that, so he thought for a moment, then comforted, “even the littlest bits help.”
Lin Mu looked at him, and didn’t feel comforted at all.
He reached out to hug Milky, buried his face in his fur, nuzzled, and exhaled comfortably.
Yan Xuanjing raised his paw and patted Lin Mu on the cheek gently, then started at the mud of Lin Mu’s face for two seconds and retracted his paw silently, as if nothing had happened.
Lin Mu raised his hand and touched his face. Looking at the mud on his hand, he buried his head into Yan Xuanjing’s body and nuzzle, then stood up and decided to bring Yan Xuanjing to wash in the stream at the back of the mountain.
Just as he stood up, an earth-shaking noise came from several mountains away, followed by the ground trembling beneath their feet.
It wasn’t serious, but quite obvious.
Before Lin Mu could even grab onto the tree to steady himself, Yan Xuanjing had already thrown him onto his back and flew into the sky.
Hovering in the air, both of them finally knew where the loud noise had come from.
— It came from a deep mountain far away from the area where ordinary people lived, where two mountains had gotten their tops cut of in an instant.
The dust had scattered and the boulders were rolled down, along with the soil that was tumbling down like a water wave. The green trees and heavy rocks were swallowed up as if they were nothing but weeds and sand. Countless of creatures in the mountains fled, and the birds leapt out of the forest, flying away without turning back even once.
Lin Mu felt a chill run down his spine.
He felt as if his understanding towards a monster’s power was quite problematic.
Although Lin Mu knew some terms that could be used to describe great monsters, such as altering the mountains and filling the seas, or crossing miles in a single step, or changing the weather with a twist of their hands, but when he actually faced it, he felt as if his ability to speak had disappeared completely.
Knowledge had limited his imagination.
Lin Mu glanced at a wild boar that was submerged under the tsunami of soil like an ant, without being capable of resisting at all.
“Humans can do it too.” Yan Xuanjing said, “human weapons are also incredible.”
“But I’ve never seen it before.” Lin Mu patted his face which had been frozen stiff, “this is too……”
Such power, in the eyes of humans, would have long been considered a disaster.
No wonder they always said that monsters from the Great Wilderness shouldn’t be allowed into the Central Plains — there wasn’t even a need for one as strong as this. Just one slightly stronger was enough to overthrow the present stable environment of humankind.
And once they started to act out in the Central Plains, the impact they would have on the other worlds would be devastating.
In Lin Mu ’s understanding, if two mountains were levelled in the Central Plains, great changes would happen in corresponding places in the Great Wilderness.
Whether it was a landslide, or simply disappearing into thin air, it would bring extraordinary changes to the Great Wilderness.
Lin Mu, who had seen such a terrible power with his own eyes, finally understood why the humans who came to the sub-district office for cooperation before, looked as if they were about to explode on the spot.
This was even more terrifying that a few humans exploding in place.
Lin Mu thought.
Yan Xuanjing recognized it and said, “it’s Yan Gui’s power.”
In fact, the Morning Dusk that Lin Mu had grown in his own house was far more useful than he had thought.
The Morning Dusk’s characteristic was that once it was stuck, it couldn’t be gotten rid of. As long as it didn’t burn out, it would be able to burn continuously.
Just like beans that were ignited, as long as it didn’t burn out, the flame wouldn’t go out.
Yan Gui looked at the resentful energy surrounded by the green flame, and felt as if a [HP -1] prompt was constantly appearing on his opponent’s head.
Although it was minimal, it indeed caused it to weaken a little.
After Yan Gui had blasted two mountain tops as a test, he didn’t feel panicked at all.
When he used to fight with Di Wu, it was a 50-50 thing. Although they were never serious, they were basically around the same level
This resentful energy was much weaker than Di Wu himself.
Didn’t even have a human form.
— Especially since it had never intended to fight head-on with Yan Gui, and always tried to bypass Yan Gui to find the Di Wu hidden behind him.
Di Wu actually had great trust in Yan Gui, and after facing the resentful energy directly, he also found out that his opponent’s power was much worse than him in the past.
Although it was enough to beat up ten of the current him, that didn’t matter.
The one who needed to fight the resentful energy wasn’t him.
He squatted down leisurely beside Di Xiu. In addition to him, the ones sheltered by Di Xiu included the ones at home, and some little monsters who came over to ask for protection.
And a sorrowful mountain god who had sealed himself up.
Di Xiu’s original body was frantically absorbing the sun essence to fill himself up, and his human form had ran to the passageway in the mountains.
Many monsters had slipped through the passage when something had happened, and those that were left behind were weak and pitiable monsters that would die without a body if they entered into the Great Wilderness.
And Di Xiu had firmly protected the main peak of the Qingyao Mountains, because as long as nothing happened to the main peak, the mountain god would be fine.
It’s just that there was a matter of taking another person’s territory as a battlefield. Although Di Wu was thick-skinned and didn’t think much of it, Di Xiu still felt embarrassed.
“It’s okay.” Qin Chuan search and rummage, and pulled out a pack of poker cards and box of mahjong. He said, “it’s not a big deal, at most I’ll stay here a couple of years to help grow your mountains back.”
The mountain god heard his words, lifted his eyes, and sighed sadly.
Di Xiu thought about it and said, “Di Wu will stay behind to help you fix the mountain.”
Di Wu, who was opening the mahjong box, wasn’t willing to accept it, “why?!”
“Because this is your fault.” Di Xiu said, “in any case, you can’t follow us back to the Great Wilderness in your current state.”
Di Wu clicked his tongue, and just as he wanted to say something, Qin Chuan wrapped around him.
Qin Chuan’s whole entire Dragon Vein was filled with joy, “then I’ll stay together with Di Wu!”
Di Wu expressionlessly peeled him off, placed him aside and counted the people present and realised that they were missing one player for mahjong — he had straightforwardly eliminated Qin Chuan, who liked to cheat once he had lost.
Di Wu thought about it, patted his head, and reached out with his phone to call Lin Mu.
When Lin Mu had received the call from Di Wu, he was lying on Milky’s head, watching Yan Gui’s fiftieth round against the resentful energy.
Yan Xuanjing was responsible for the commentary.
Lin Mu found out that although it was easy to defeat the resentful energy, it didn’t seem like there was a method to directly kill him.
In the words of Milky’s commentary, Di Wu’s power was originally meant to overcome things such as resentful energies. Normally, if both Di Wu and the resentful energy were locked in a little black room, the resentful energy would disappear in a few days.
But this resentful energy was born from Di Wu’s power, and had no reaction towards Di Wu’s power of restrain.
After breaking it apart, it could tumble around and get back together after a few seconds. It was slippery and couldn’t be caught, and other than the Morning Dusk on it that was burning away that was causing it harm, Yan Gui’s attacks only blocked and delayed it.
Yan Xuanjing said that if it followed this trend, Yan Xuanjing could only indefinitely drag this matter on until it became exhausted and was burned.
Lin Mu answered Di Wu’s call, and was just planning to ask about Di Wu’s safety, when he heard what Di Wu said, “Big nephew, we’re missing someone for mahjong. You want to come over? We’re in the heart of Qingyao Mountains main peak, near the passageway.”
Lin Mu paused, and looked at Yan Gui who was fighting, and hesitatingly asked, “playing mahjong?”
There were the clattering sounds of tiles being shuffled from Di Wu’s side as he lazily said, “yeah, bring something to eat and drink too. Waiting for you.”
After speaking, he hung up the phone and sent Qin Chuan to play Fight the Landlord with the little monsters.
Lin Mu looked at his phone which had just been hung up on him, paused for a while, and his expression gradually became more and more disbelieving.
Playing mahjong?!
Yan Gui was fighting hard to save the world, while you guys are playing mahjong in the back?!
The translator has this to add:
In which lying down and winning is so last season, playing games and winning lets you win two games at once.
As a compensation for the late update, check out ‘There’s something wrong with this development!’ a smut-filled comedy story about two reincarnators, and a poor scum gong who who realises that perhaps, he’s gotten the wrong script. Reader (especially 18-) discretion advised.
Why am I not really surprised that DW & co. chill in the background while one person/fox has to do all the hard work? looool
Thx for the ch \(≧▽≦)/
And oho~ smut ( ¬ ‿ ¬ ) I think I’ll take a look these days.
How Di Wu is playing mahjong while there’s such a huge boss fight going on reminds me of how university students (… my friends and I) would decide to play pubg together during assignment season hahahaha. Thanks for the chapter! And ohh.. a new novel? Gonna check it out 🙂
